The Delhi High Court has stated that we cannot live in a society where women are terrified to leave

As a result, the Court stated that a man sentenced to life in prison by a trial court for the murder of a 21-year-old woman who had rebuffed his advances will not be granted release.

The Delhi High Court said on Monday that anyone who intimidates a girl, woman, or child should be treated with zero tolerance, and that society should ensure that women do not have to worry when they leave their homes.

As a result, a division bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Rajnish Bhatnagar ruled that Vijay Saini, who was sentenced to life in prison by a trial court for the murder of a 21-year-old lady who had rebuffed his advances, will not be granted bail.

"We can't and won't live in a society where women are afraid to leave their houses in broad daylight... On bail, we're not going to increase him. There will be no tolerance for anyone in this country who intimidates any girl, woman, or kid. "There will be no tolerance," he stated emphatically.

Saini has petitioned the High Court to overturn the trial court's decision to sentence him to life in prison for the murder of Delhi University student Radhika Tanwar in 2011.

Saini fatally shot the girl near Ram Lal Anand College's Dhaula Kuan footover bridge. The incident occurred on International Women's Day.

Saini was said to have stalked the girl because he lived in the same neighbourhood as her. Locals also thrashed him for following Tanwar a few months before.

As soon as the facts of the case were brought to the attention of the bench, Justice Mridul stated that the court would not increase the man's bail.

"Someone as cruel as this, the trial court remarked, and we haven't spoken anything about it yet... The incident occurred in 2011, and there is an immediate recall after 11 years. You can picture what every girl must go through when she leaves the house."

The Court, however, emphasised that because the guy has already served 11 years in prison, the appeal will be heard on April 26.
